For the Ground Turkey Filling

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, optional
  • ½ cup pizza or marinara sauce

For the Pizza Tacos

  • 8 crunchy taco shells
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded Italian cheese blend or Parmesan
  • ½–¾ cup pizza sauce, plus extra for dipping
  • 24–32 pepperoni slices
  • ¼ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Fresh parsley or basil for garnish

Optional Add-Ins

  • Turkey pepperoni
  • Sautéed mushrooms
  • Diced bell peppers
  • Black olives
  • Jalapeños
  • Extra mozzarella

👩🏽🍳 Instructions

1. Preheat the oven.
Preheat oven to 375°F. Arrange the taco shells upright in a baking dish so they support one another.

2. Cook the turkey.
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and cook for about 2–3 minutes.

Add the garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.

Add ground turkey and cook for 6–8 minutes, breaking it apart as it browns, until fully cooked to 165°F.

3. Season it up.
Add Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.

Stir in ½ cup pizza sauce and simmer for about 2 minutes.

Now THAT filling already smells like somebody ordered pizza. 😂

4. Build the tacos.
Add a little mozzarella to the bottom of each shell.

Spoon in the seasoned turkey mixture.

Add a spoonful of pizza sauce, more mozzarella, and 3–4 pepperoni slices on top.

Finish with Italian cheese and a sprinkle of Italian seasoning.

5. Bake.
Bake uncovered for approximately 8–10 minutes, until the shells are crispy and the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly browned.

For an extra golden cheesy top, broil for about 1 minute at the end—but watch them closely!

6. Serve.
Sprinkle with fresh parsley or basil and serve immediately with warm pizza sauce for dipping.

🍟 What to Serve With Pizza Tacos

These would be GOOD with a romaine tomato salad, Caesar salad, garlic Parmesan fries, mozzarella sticks, roasted broccoli, or garlic bread.

And for a party? Put out bowls of marinara, ranch, and garlic butter and let everybody pick their dipping sauce. 😮💨

⭐ Easy Eatz Expert Tips

Don’t make the turkey filling too wet. Let the sauce simmer into the meat before stuffing the shells. Too much liquid can make your tacos soggy.

Put a little cheese in the bottom first. Besides adding more cheesy goodness, it creates a little barrier between the shell and filling.

Keep the taco shells standing upright and packed fairly close together while baking so they don’t tip over.

For that viral-looking cheese pull, use freshly shredded whole-milk mozzarella instead of pre-shredded cheese when possible.

And if you’re making these for kids, leave off the red pepper flakes and let everybody customize their own toppings.

🧊 Storage

Store leftover filling separately in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days.

For best results, assemble fresh tacos when you’re ready to eat. Already assembled tacos will soften in the refrigerator.

🔥 Reheating

Reheat assembled pizza tacos in the air fryer at 350°F for 3–5 minutes or in a 375°F oven for 5–8 minutes.
